Things I Like

Oh, this is going to take a while. I'll break it down by genre, even though I hate genre boundaries:

Urban fantasy by Nicole Peeler, Laura Bickle, Marta Acosta, Kate Griffin, Stacia Kane and Diana Rowland.

Historical romance by Cecilia Grant, Sherry Thomas and Grace Burrowes.

Contemporary Romance by Ruthie Knox and Jennifer Crusie.

Science fiction by William Gibson, Anne McCaffrey, James Alan Gardner and Ursula K. LeGuin.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender, Unlundun by China Mieville, People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks, In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant, Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson, everything by Jane Austen (including Sanditon and Lady Susan), and lots and lots of other books. I'll spare you.

Harry Potter. I'm obsessed. I've read every book in the series at least half a dozen times.

Ryan Adams, Little Big Town, Sera Cahoone, Eric Lindell, Counting Crows, Leonard Cohen, Better Than Ezra and Solomon Burke.

The Wire. It's the best television show ever made (especially season 2). I will brook no argument on this. I also have a shameless addiction to The Vampire Diaries, and if something's been cancelled, it's a safe bet I loved it. Firefly, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies. My So-Called Life. All genius. (Dear network execs: WHY?)

The Cheese Board, my mom and John Besh. For our ninth wedding anniversary, The Enabler and I had lunch at Lüke in New Orleans. I had a sandwich. It was one of the top ten meals of my life.
